Dance Worlds Two
Contact Improvisation Material for the Spine
Tuning Scores Real Time Dancing
In these classes we're warming up with somatic exercises from Contact Improvisation, and exploring Steve Paxton's movement puzzles from Material for the Spine. These are employed in Contact dancing as foundations for learning technical skills.
We're practising the ways of seeing and moving that Katie Duck's work teaches, learning about how the use of the eyes affects the use of the body in moving and dancing, and about her use of 'exit', 'pause', 'flow' in creating scores.
And we're practicing the 'tuning scores' of Lisa Nelson.. ways to see composition, make choices, make material and have fun creating whilst dancing together.
Open to movers, dancers, musicians, actors of all levels & backgrounds.
Please arrive at 6.30pm into the studio to begin at 6.45pm
Thursdays 6.30pm to 8.30pm
14th November to 5th December

Tuning Scores are an intriguing way to investigate fundamental elements of performance, movement behavior, and communication, altogether. Originated by Lisa Nelson, the explorations illuminate how we compose perception through action; in other words, we learn how what we see, is inextricably linked to how we see, through our multisensorial layers of observation.
